The Street Foods of India: A Benefit for Just Food
Thursday, July 24th | 7:00pm - 9:00pm
Bowery Culinary Center at Whole Foods Market, 95 E Houston St, NY
Demonstration & Tasting
From Saigon to New York City, street foods are popular all throughout the world—but nowhere is it part of the culinary culture more than India, and particularly Mumbai. In busy, densely populated cities, eating on the streets is common, and a great way to experience high-quality, creative foods at affordable prices. In this class, we’ll walk the streets of Old Delhi’s Chandi Chowk or Mumbai’s Chowpatty Beach and enjoy a few of the delightful flavors and aromas that India has to offer.
On the Menu: Roasted Chickpeas with Chiles & Coconut; Urad Dahl Bada in Sambhar (Dahl Patties/Fritters with Lentils); Aloo Chaat (Indian-Style Potato Salad); Caulifower & Paneer Frankie (Wraps); Onion Uttapam (Flatbread with Dahl and Rice Batter).
Instructor: Richard LaMarita, Chef Instructor, Natural Gourmet Institute
