Queens Location: R or M train to 36th St Stop in Queens, building is right upstairs (37-18 Northern Blvd)

Brooklyn location: The Brooklyn Navy Yard is a 15 minute walk from the A/C train at High Street or F train at York Street, or G train at Clinton Washington. Also bus service: B48, B57, B62, B69
. Folks can enter through the Clinton gate and we are on Building 3.

Why do you want to work with a Farm School NYC apprentice?

We take apprentices every year and it would be great to contribute in some way to the Farm School program.



Apprentice Work Schedule

Farm School NYC requires that the apprenticeship be a minimum of 140 hours.

No, we are unable to offer any kind of stipend at this time.

 General vegetable production farm work, including preparing soil, planting, weeding, harvesting, tilling, work with irrigation and some working with chickens.

 What will the apprentice learn through this apprenticeship?

 How a vegetable farm business operates on a daily basis.

 We are a small farm based in NYC and we're working to establish urban agriculture as a self-sustaining and job-creating industry.

 What experience and knowledge will you (the Supervisor) share with the apprentice?

 I have 4 years of experience running an urban farm, and the apprentice will be given access to all of my and my partners' knowledge.

 What is exciting about your apprenticeship site?

 It's on a roof!

We have an education program that serves many Title I schools, and we have had low-income apprentices in the past.
