Healthy Food Access

Many New York City citizens lack adequate access to affordable, safe, healthy food choices. At Just Food, we work diligently to enhance NYC community members’ access to fresh produce and advance toward a more just food system by leveraging our comprehensive network of CSAs, Community-Run Farmer’s Markets, and local farmers/producers.

Relationship Building

Through our vibrant network of over 120 Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) groups and 30 Community-Run Farmers Markets, we facilitate the formation of critical aggregation relationships that actively support over 50 regional small-mid scale farmers/producers. Our network offers an opportunity for producers and distributors to increase visibility within their communities via social media and our Value Chain Map. Each CSA and Community-Run Farmer’s Market in our network is committed to maintaining a direct relationship with their farmer.

Support & Assistance

Just Food provides our network of partners with technical assistance and resources, helping them make healthy food accessible and affordable for the populations they serve. We teach people how to start their own CSA sites and provide targeted market management support so that people are able to run the farmer’s markets that they envision in their own neighborhoods. We also find pathways and advocate for CSAs and Community-Run Farmer’s Markets to be inclusive and accessible to all members of their communities, regardless of income.
